Amber thought she was finally getting some peace.

After everything that had happened between her, Dave, and Anthony, she had reached a point where she didn't want another argument. She didn't want another accusation. She simply wanted the truth.

But that afternoon, Amber had no idea that the truth was about to walk straight through the door.

Dave had asked her to meet him at the house because he said there was something important they needed to discuss. Amber arrived expecting a normal conversation, but the moment she stepped inside, she noticed Wayne sitting across the room.

She immediately became suspicious.

"Why is Wayne here?" Amber asked.

Dave looked at Wayne before answering.

"Because I don't think you know the whole story."

Amber folded her arms.

"The whole story about what?"

Before Dave could answer, Wayne placed his phone on the table.

"About Anthony."

Amber's expression instantly changed.

"Anthony? What does he have to do with this?"

Dave took a deep breath.

"More than you think."

Amber stared at both men.

"Then somebody better start talking."

Wayne opened his phone and showed Amber several messages.

Amber's eyes widened.

"What am I looking at?"

"Messages between Anthony and people you were never supposed to know about," Wayne replied.

Amber shook her head.

"No. Anthony wouldn't—"

Dave interrupted.

"That's exactly what he wanted you to believe."

Amber became quiet.

Dave explained that Anthony had been telling different people completely different versions of what was happening behind the scenes. According to Dave, Anthony had been keeping certain conversations hidden because he didn't want Amber asking questions.

Then Wayne revealed something even more shocking.

"He didn't just keep secrets from you," Wayne said. "He was making plans without telling anyone."

Amber stared at him.

"What kind of plans?"

Wayne hesitated.

"Plans involving money, relationships, and decisions that could affect everybody around him."

Amber couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Why didn't anyone tell me this before?"

Dave looked down.

"Because every time somebody tried, Anthony had an explanation."

Amber stood up.

"So you're telling me I've been defending him this whole time while he knew the truth?"

Neither man answered.

That silence told Amber everything.

Suddenly, the front door opened.

Anthony walked in.

He stopped when he saw Dave, Wayne, and Amber standing together.

"What is going on?"

Amber turned toward him.

"You tell me."

Anthony immediately looked at Dave.

"You brought her into this?"

Dave shook his head.

"She deserves to know."

Anthony became defensive.

"Know what?"

Wayne stood up.

"Everything."

Anthony's face changed.

Amber noticed immediately.

"Why do you look nervous?"

"I'm not nervous," Anthony replied.

"Then explain the messages."

Anthony froze.

"What messages?"

Wayne held up his phone.

"The ones you thought nobody would ever show Amber."

Anthony stepped forward.

"Give me that phone."

Dave blocked his path.

"No. You're going to answer her questions."

Amber looked directly at Anthony.

"Did you lie to me?"

Anthony didn't respond.

"Anthony!"

He finally said, "It's complicated."

Amber shook her head.

"That's not an answer."

Dave then revealed another detail.

"You told Amber one thing about why you were making certain decisions. But you told somebody else something completely different."

Amber's eyes filled with disbelief.

"What were you telling people?"

Wayne answered.

"He was saying he needed to protect himself because he knew certain information might eventually come out."

Amber looked at Anthony.

"What information?"

Anthony remained silent.

That silence turned the entire room upside down.

Amber's voice became emotional.

"I trusted you."

Anthony finally tried to explain.

"I was trying to handle everything myself."

"But you didn't handle it," Amber replied. "You hid it."

Dave nodded.

"That's what we've been trying to tell you."

Anthony turned toward Dave.

"You don't know what you're talking about."

Dave laughed bitterly.

"I know enough."

Wayne added, "And there's more."

Amber looked at Wayne.

"More?"

Wayne nodded.

"There was another conversation Anthony never wanted you to see."

Anthony immediately said, "Wayne, don't."

Amber's eyes widened.

"Don't what?"

Wayne looked at Amber.

"Show you the truth."

He played the recording.

Amber listened silently.

The conversation revealed Anthony discussing his situation and admitting that he was worried certain people would discover what he had been keeping hidden.

Amber covered her mouth.

"Is that really you?"

Anthony looked away.

Amber's disappointment was obvious.

"Why?"

Anthony finally admitted that he had made decisions he knew would upset people and had tried to keep them hidden because he was afraid of the consequences.

Amber shook her head.

"You weren't protecting me. You were protecting yourself."

Anthony had no response.

Dave stepped forward.

"That's why we brought this to you."

Amber looked at Dave and Wayne.

"For how long have you known?"

Dave answered honestly.

"Long enough."

Amber sat down.

She was overwhelmed.

Everything she thought she knew suddenly felt uncertain.

Anthony tried to sit beside her.

Amber moved away.

"Don't."

Anthony stopped.

"I need space."

He nodded slowly.

Dave looked at Amber.

"Whatever you decide next, make sure it's based on the truth—not what somebody wants you to believe."

Amber wiped her tears.

"I don't know what I'm going to do."

Wayne replied, "You don't have to decide tonight."

Anthony stood near the door, realizing that the situation he had tried to control was now completely out of his hands.

As Dave and Wayne prepared to leave, Amber stopped them.

"Wait."

They turned around.

Amber looked at them seriously.

"If there are more secrets, I want to know now."

Dave and Wayne exchanged a glance.

Wayne slowly said:

"Amber... there is one more thing."

Amber's heart sank.

"What?"

Wayne looked toward Anthony.

"And this one changes everything."

Anthony's face went pale.

The room went completely silent.

Amber stared at Wayne.

"Tell me."

Wayne took a deep breath.

But before he could reveal the final secret...

Anthony suddenly interrupted.

"Amber, before he tells you anything, you need to hear my side."

Amber looked at him.

For the first time, she wasn't angry.

She was simply determined.

"Fine."

She stood up.

"Then start talking."

And that was the moment Anthony realized there was no hiding anymore.
