“You’re telling me she knew all of this and never told me?”

Amber nodded.

“And there’s more.”

Anthony stared at her.

Amber pulled out her phone and showed him messages she had saved.

Anthony read them carefully.

The room suddenly became silent.

The messages suggested that D’Nisha had been planning to confront someone but wanted Anthony kept completely out of the situation until she was ready.

Anthony shook his head.

“Why would she do that?”

Amber answered quietly.

“Because she knew you would ask questions.”

Anthony stood up and began pacing.

Anthony turned around.

“What?”

“No,” Amber replied. “It could affect everyone.”

Just as Anthony was about to ask another question, his phone rang.

It was D’Nisha.

Anthony looked at the screen.

Amber immediately said, “Answer it.”

Anthony picked up.

“Hello?”

D’Nisha sounded nervous.

“Anthony, where are you?”

Anthony glanced at Amber.

“Why?”

There was a long pause.

“I need to talk to you.”

Anthony's voice became serious.

“About what?”

D’Nisha didn't answer immediately.

Then she said, “About something Amber may have told you.”

Anthony's eyes widened.

Amber couldn't believe it.

D’Nisha already knew.

Anthony asked, “How do you know Amber talked to me?”

Another silence followed.

Finally, D’Nisha said, “Because I knew this day was coming.”

Anthony ended the call.

He looked at Amber in disbelief.

“So she knew you would tell me?”

Amber nodded.
