When Wayne proposes to Lauren, she says yes! 💍❤️

The golden sunset painted the sky as Wayne nervously stood beside the lake where he and Lauren had shared their very first date. Everything had been carefully planned for weeks. White roses lined the wooden walkway, candles flickered in the evening breeze, and a violinist quietly played their favorite song.

Wayne checked his watch for what felt like the hundredth time.

"She'll be here any minute," he whispered, taking a deep breath.

His best friend smiled and patted him on the shoulder.

"You've got this."

A few moments later, Lauren arrived wearing a simple blue dress. She smiled as she looked around at the beautiful decorations.

"Wayne... what is all this?" she asked with a laugh.

Wayne gently took her hand.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time."

Lauren's heart began racing.

As they walked to the center of the dock, the music grew louder. Tiny lights reflected across the calm water, creating a magical scene.

Wayne turned to face her.

"Lauren, we've laughed together, cried together, and survived challenges that almost tore us apart. There were moments when I thought I'd lose you forever, but every obstacle reminded me of one thing..."

He paused, looking into her eyes.

"...you're the person I want beside me for the rest of my life."

Tears filled Lauren's eyes.

Wayne slowly reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet ring box.

The people hiding nearby quietly stepped forward to watch.

Wayne dropped to one knee.

The entire park became silent.

"Lauren..."

"You've made my life brighter than I ever imagined."

"You've shown me what real love, trust, and forgiveness look like."

He opened the ring box, revealing a sparkling diamond ring.

"Will you marry me?"

Lauren gasped.

She covered her mouth as tears streamed down her cheeks.

For several long seconds, she couldn't speak.

Wayne's smile slowly faded.

He began wondering if he had made a terrible mistake.

Finally, Lauren knelt beside him.

She gently held his face in her hands.

"I thought this day would never come," she whispered.

"There were times when I believed love wasn't meant for me."

Wayne squeezed her hand.

"But then you came into my life."

"You never gave up on me, even when I pushed you away."

She smiled through her tears.

"So my answer is..."

She paused just long enough to make everyone's hearts race.

"...Yes!"

Cheers erupted across the park.

Friends and family rushed from their hiding places, clapping and celebrating.

Wayne slipped the ring onto Lauren's finger, and the two embraced as fireworks lit up the evening sky.

For a few perfect minutes, it felt as if nothing could ruin their happiness.

Then...

Lauren's phone buzzed.

She glanced at the screen.

The smile instantly disappeared from her face.

Wayne noticed.

"What's wrong?"

Lauren hesitated.

"It's... nothing."

Wayne gently took her hand.

"Lauren... we're about to spend our lives together. You don't have to hide anything from me."

She slowly handed him the phone.

The message read:

"Congratulations on the engagement... but before you get married, Wayne deserves to know the truth about what happened five years ago."

Wayne looked up in confusion.

"What truth?"

Lauren's eyes filled with fear.

Before she could answer, another message arrived.

"If you don't tell him tonight... I will."

The celebration suddenly grew quiet.

Wayne looked at Lauren, searching her face for answers.

She lowered her head.

"There is something I've never told you," she whispered.

Wayne's heart sank.

"What is it?"

Lauren took a deep breath.

"It isn't that I don't love you..."

"It's that I was afraid the truth would make you walk away."

The guests watched in stunned silence.

Wayne gently held her hand.

"No matter what it is..."

"I want to hear it from you."

Lauren nodded, tears falling onto the engagement ring.

She opened her mouth to speak—

But before a single word came out, a black SUV pulled into the parking lot.

A stranger stepped out holding a thick envelope.

He looked directly at Wayne.

"I believe these belong to you."

The envelope had Wayne's name written across the front.

Inside were old photographs... legal documents... and a handwritten letter that could change everything.

Wayne looked at Lauren.

Lauren looked back at him, trembling.

Their engagement had just begun...

But so had the biggest secret of their lives
