The tension inside Larry and Bethany's home had been building for months.

What used to be a happy marriage had slowly turned into endless arguments, cold silences, and sleepless nights. Neither of them wanted to admit it, but their relationship was hanging by a thread.

That evening, Bethany was upstairs folding laundry while Larry sat alone in the living room. His phone suddenly rang.

He looked at the screen and hesitated.

It was Lynette.

Larry glanced toward the staircase to make sure Bethany wasn't nearby before answering.

"Hello?"

"Larry, have you made a decision yet?" Lynette asked.

Larry sighed heavily.

"I don't know anymore."

Bethany, meanwhile, had just started walking downstairs when she heard Lynette's voice through the partially open door.

She froze.

Why was Larry talking to Lynette?

Curious and concerned, she stopped near the staircase and listened.

"Larry, you can't keep delaying this," Lynette continued. "You already told me the marriage is over."

Bethany's heart dropped.

Marriage?

Over?

Her hands began trembling.

Larry rubbed his forehead.

"I know what I said."

"Then why haven't you filed the divorce papers?"

Bethany felt as if the floor had disappeared beneath her.

Divorce papers?

Tears immediately filled her eyes.

For months she had feared their problems were getting worse, but hearing those words felt like a knife through her heart.

Larry lowered his voice.

"It's not that simple."

"Larry," Lynette replied firmly, "you deserve to be happy too."

Bethany couldn't listen anymore.

She rushed upstairs before Larry could see her.

Inside their bedroom, she sat on the edge of the bed, crying.

Questions raced through her mind.

Had Larry already decided to leave her?

Had Lynette convinced him to end their marriage?

Was there something going on between them?

The pain became unbearable.

An hour later, Larry walked into the bedroom and immediately noticed Bethany's red eyes.

"Bethany, what's wrong?"

She stood up.

"You tell me."

Larry looked confused.

"What are you talking about?"

Bethany's voice cracked.

"I heard your phone call."

Larry's expression instantly changed.

The room became silent.

"You heard that?"

"Every word."

Larry sat down slowly.

"Bethany—"

"No!" she interrupted.

"Don't lie to me. I heard Lynette talking about divorce papers. I heard her tell you that our marriage is over."

Larry closed his eyes.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Finally, Bethany asked the question she feared most.

"Do you want a divorce?"

Larry looked at her.

His answer took several seconds.

"I don't know."

The words shattered her.

Bethany burst into tears.

Larry immediately stood up.

"Bethany, that's not what I meant."

"Then what did you mean?"

Larry walked to the closet and pulled out a folder.

Bethany stared at it nervously.

Inside were documents she had never seen before.

Larry handed them to her.

As she read through the papers, confusion replaced her sadness.

The documents weren't divorce papers.

They were records from a marriage counseling program.

Bethany looked up.

"What is this?"

Larry sighed.

"A few months ago, I thought our marriage was falling apart."

Bethany remained silent.

"So I called Lynette."

"Why Lynette?"

"Because she's a family counselor."

Bethany blinked.

"What?"

Larry nodded.

"The reason we were talking about divorce is because she wanted me to make a decision."

Bethany looked stunned.

"What decision?"

Larry took a deep breath.

"Whether I was going to give up on our marriage... or fight for it."

Tears streamed down Bethany's face.

"You never told me that."

"I was scared."

Larry sat beside her.

"I didn't want you to think I was planning to leave."

Bethany looked away.

"Well, that's exactly what I thought."

Larry lowered his head.

"I know."

For the first time in months, both of them stopped arguing and started talking honestly.

They talked about their frustrations.

Their disappointments.

The moments they felt ignored.

The moments they felt unappreciated.

Hours passed.

Neither of them realized how late it had become.

Then Larry reached into his pocket.

Bethany looked confused.

"What now?"

Larry pulled out a folded piece of paper.

Bethany's eyes widened.

"Is that..."

Larry smiled slightly.

"The document Lynette told me to sign tonight."

Bethany nervously watched him unfold it.

For a moment, she feared it was a divorce agreement after all.

Instead, she saw something unexpected.

At the top of the page were the words:

"Commitment Renewal Program."

Bethany covered her mouth.

Larry looked directly at her.

"Lynette told me I had to make a choice tonight."

Bethany waited.

Larry slowly picked up a pen.

Then, without hesitation, he signed the paper.

Bethany's eyes filled with tears.

"What does that mean?"

Larry smiled.

"It means I'm choosing us."

Bethany broke down crying and hugged him tightly.

For the first time in a long time, hope returned to their marriage.

But just as they embraced, Larry's phone buzzed again.

A new message from Lynette appeared on the screen.

Larry opened it.

His smile suddenly disappeared.

Bethany noticed immediately.

"What happened?"

Larry stared at the message in shock.

Attached was a photo taken only minutes earlier.

A photo of their house.

And standing outside in the darkness was a mysterious person watching through their window.

Below the picture was a single message
