Larry confronts Isaiah and tells him not to mention him and Sharra to anyone, and not to tell Brooke that he was in Sharra’s room last night
The sun had barely started rising when Isaiah heard loud pounding on his apartment door.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
Not normal knocking.
Angry knocking.
Isaiah sat up immediately from the couch, confused and half-awake. He glanced at the clock on his phone.
6:12 AM.
“Who the hell…” he muttered while walking toward the door.
The pounding came again.
“ISAIAH! Open the door!”
The voice made his stomach drop instantly.
Larry.
Isaiah opened the door slowly, and the moment he saw Larry standing there, he knew something was seriously wrong.
Larry looked furious.
His jaw was clenched tightly. His eyes were bloodshot like he hadn’t slept all night. He wore the same clothes from yesterday, and the tension radiating off him filled the hallway immediately.
Isaiah frowned. “What happened?”
Larry pushed past him into the apartment without waiting for permission.
“We need to talk.”
Isaiah shut the door carefully behind him. “Bro, why you acting like this at six in the morning?”
Larry turned around sharply.
“Because you talk too damn much.”
Isaiah blinked in confusion.
“What?”
Larry stepped closer.
“You been saying my name around Brooke?”
Isaiah’s expression changed instantly.
Because now he understood.
Sharra.
The room suddenly felt heavier.
Isaiah rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “I didn’t say nothing crazy.”
Larry laughed coldly.
“Nothing crazy?” he snapped. “Brooke called me at two in the morning asking why people keep mentioning me and Sharra together!”
Isaiah sighed heavily.
“People already talking, Larry. I didn’t start that.”
“But you added to it.”
Larry’s voice echoed through the apartment.
Isaiah could tell this wasn’t just anger.
This was panic.
Real panic.
And that only made Isaiah more suspicious.
He folded his arms slowly. “Why you so stressed if nothing happened?”
That question hit a nerve immediately.
Larry’s entire expression hardened.
“Watch how you talking to me.”
Isaiah stared at him carefully now.
Because for weeks, rumors had been floating around about Larry spending more and more time with Sharra. Most people ignored it as gossip.
But last night…
Somebody saw Larry leaving Sharra’s house after midnight.
And apparently Brooke had started hearing whispers too.
Isaiah shook his head. “Look, Brooke asked me questions, I answered what I knew.”
Larry stepped closer aggressively.
“No. You answered too much.”
Isaiah’s patience started fading now.
“So what exactly you want me to do?”
Larry lowered his voice.
“I need you to keep my name and Sharra’s name out your mouth.”
Silence.
Isaiah stared at him.
Then came the second bombshell.
“And don’t tell Brooke I was in Sharra’s room last night.”
The apartment went completely still.
Isaiah looked genuinely shocked now.
“You WERE there?”
Larry instantly regretted saying it out loud.
“That’s not the point.”
“No, that IS the point!”
Isaiah threw his hands up in disbelief.
“So the rumors true?!”
Larry ran frustrated hands across his face.
“It’s not what people think.”
Isaiah laughed bitterly. “Bro, you in another woman’s room after midnight while you still dealing with Brooke. What exactly people supposed to think?”
Larry slammed his fist against the kitchen counter.
“Nothing happened!”
Isaiah stepped backward slightly at the outburst.
“Then why hide it?”
Larry didn’t answer immediately.
And that silence said everything.
The truth was complicated.
Larry and Brooke had been fighting constantly for months. Their relationship felt like it was collapsing piece by piece. Last night after another huge argument, Larry stormed out angry and emotional.
And somehow…
He ended up at Sharra’s house.
At first they just talked.
Sharra listened while Larry vented about Brooke, the stress, the drama, the emotional exhaustion.
But one hour turned into three.
Then suddenly it was after midnight.
And although Larry kept telling himself nothing inappropriate happened…
Deep down he knew crossing that line emotionally was already dangerous enough.
Especially if Brooke found out.
Isaiah looked at Larry carefully now.
“You still love Brooke?”
Larry’s expression instantly softened for a split second.
“Yeah.”
“Then why you over there?”
Larry looked away painfully.
“Because with Brooke everything feels like war now.”
The honesty in his voice caught Isaiah off guard.
Larry sat down heavily on the couch, suddenly looking more exhausted than angry.
“I’m tired, bro,” he admitted quietly. “Every day it’s arguing. Crying. Accusations. Drama.”
Isaiah stayed silent.
“And Sharra just…” Larry paused. “She listens.”
That answer explained everything.
Maybe Larry didn’t physically cheat.
But emotionally?
Things were already getting messy.
Isaiah shook his head slowly.
“You know this gonna destroy Brooke if she finds out.”
Larry closed his eyes tightly.
“I know.”
For a moment, neither spoke.
The morning sunlight slowly crept through the apartment blinds while tension filled the room.
Then Isaiah finally asked the question sitting heavy on his mind.
“So what happened in that room last night?”
Larry looked up sharply.
“Nothing happened.”
“Larry.”
“I swear.”
Isaiah studied his face carefully.
And surprisingly…
He believed him.
At least mostly.
But the bigger problem remained:
Secrets never stay hidden for long.
Especially not in their circle.
Larry stood back up again and pointed toward Isaiah seriously.
“I mean it. Don’t tell Brooke.”
Isaiah frowned.
“She deserves honesty.”
“She deserves peace,” Larry snapped back immediately. “And hearing this right now gonna destroy her.”
Isaiah looked conflicted.
Because deep down, he knew Brooke already sensed something was wrong.
Women always knew before proof appeared.
Larry grabbed his keys from the counter.
“I’m serious, Isaiah. Stay out of it.”
Before Isaiah could answer, Larry headed toward the door.
But just before leaving, he stopped.
For the first time since arriving, his anger faded completely.
And underneath it…
Isaiah could finally see guilt.
Real guilt.
Larry spoke without turning around.
“I never meant for things to get this bad.”
Then he walked out.
The apartment door slammed shut behind him, leaving Isaiah standing there in silence.
And as Isaiah stared toward the closed door, one terrifying thought kept replaying in his mind:
If Brooke ever discovered the full truth about last night…
Everything would fall apart.
