3 . SHAYLA RECIVE A BAD NEWS ABOUT KAI
OMG! SHAYLA RECEIVES BAD NEWS ABOUT KAI 😱💔
It was supposed to be a normal afternoon for Shayla.
She had spent the entire morning trying to keep her mind off the problems that had been surrounding her family lately. For once, there were no arguments, no unexpected visitors, and no dramatic phone calls.
Kai had gone out earlier, and Shayla believed everything was fine.
She was sitting quietly in the living room, scrolling through her phone, when suddenly her phone rang.
The number wasn't saved.
Shayla stared at the screen for several seconds.
“Who is calling me from this number?” she whispered.
Normally, she would have ignored it.
But something inside her told her to answer.
She picked up.
“Hello?”
There was silence on the other end.
“Hello? Who is this?”
Finally, a serious voice responded.
“Is this Shayla?”
“Yes. Who are you?”
“My name is Officer Harris. I'm calling because we need to speak with you about Kai.”
The smile immediately disappeared from Shayla's face.
“Kai? What happened to Kai?”
There was another pause.
“Ma'am, I need you to remain calm.”
Those words terrified her more than anything.
“What do you mean remain calm? Where is my son?”
The officer took a breath.
“There has been an incident.”
Shayla stood up so quickly that the phone nearly slipped from her hand.
“What kind of incident?”
“We need you to come here as soon as possible.”
“Is Kai okay?”
The officer didn't answer immediately.
Shayla's heart began pounding.
“Please,” she said. “Just tell me if my son is okay.”
“We're still trying to determine exactly what happened.”
Shayla covered her mouth.
“No… no, no, no.”
She immediately grabbed her purse and rushed toward the door.
Her mind was racing.
Kai had been perfectly fine earlier.
How could something have happened so quickly?
She called him.
Straight to voicemail.
She called again.
Nothing.
“Kai, please answer your phone,” she whispered.
Then she called another family member.
“Something happened to Kai,” Shayla said, barely able to speak.
“What happened?”
“I don't know! The police called me!”
The family member immediately became concerned.
“Shayla, slow down. Where are you going?”
“To find my son.”
She ended the call and rushed outside.
THE DRIVE THAT FELT LIKE FOREVER
As Shayla drove, every possible thought entered her mind.
Was Kai hurt?
Was he in trouble?
Had someone followed him?
Had there been an accident?
Or was somebody hiding something from her?
She kept calling his phone.
Nothing.
“Please answer,” she cried. “Please, Kai.”
At one point, she pulled the car over because she couldn't stop shaking.
She took a deep breath.
“God, please protect my child.”
Then her phone buzzed.
For one second, Shayla thought it was Kai.
But it wasn't.
It was a message from an unknown number.
“You need to know the truth about Kai.”
Shayla froze.
“What?”
She read it again.
Then another message appeared.
“Don't trust everyone around him.”
Shayla's eyes widened.
Before she could respond, another message came through.
This time there was an image attached.
Shayla stared at the screen.
Her face changed completely.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
“Kai…”
She zoomed in on the photograph.
It appeared to show Kai standing somewhere unfamiliar with someone Shayla recognized.
But why?
And why had someone sent it anonymously?
Shayla immediately called the number.
It went straight to voicemail.
“Who are you?” she demanded.
No answer.
She tried again.
Nothing.
Suddenly, Shayla's phone rang.
It was the police station.
“Hello?”
“Ms. Shayla, where are you?”
“I'm on my way.”
“You need to hurry.”
Her stomach dropped.
“Why? What happened?”
“We've just received additional information concerning Kai.”
“What information?”
The officer hesitated.
“It's better if we discuss it when you arrive.”
Shayla slammed her hand against the steering wheel.
“Why won't anyone just tell me what is happening?”
SHAYLA ARRIVES
When Shayla finally arrived, she jumped out of her car and rushed inside.
“I'm here for Kai!”
A receptionist looked at her.
“Are you Shayla?”
“Yes!”
“Officer Harris is waiting for you.”
Shayla followed her down a hallway.
When she entered the room, she immediately saw two officers.
But Kai wasn't there.
“Where is my son?”
Officer Harris stood up.
“Shayla, please sit down.”
“No. I don't want to sit down. I want to see Kai.”
“We understand.”
“Then where is he?”
The officer exchanged a look with his colleague.
Finally, he said:
“Kai is safe.”
Shayla's entire body relaxed.
“Oh, thank God.”
But then the officer continued.
“However, there are some serious questions about what happened earlier today.”
Shayla looked confused.
“What questions?”
“We believe Kai may have been with someone who wasn't supposed to be around him.”
Shayla immediately thought about the photograph.
“Who?”
“We're still investigating.”
“Is he hurt?”
“No serious injuries have been reported.”
Shayla closed her eyes.
She was relieved, but something still felt wrong.
“Then why did you call me?”
The officer placed a folder on the table.
“We found something that concerns us.”
Shayla slowly opened the folder.
Inside was a printed photograph.
Her hands began trembling.
It was the same image she had received on her phone.
Shayla looked up.
“Where did you get this?”
The officer frowned.
“You received this?”
“Yes.”
“From whom?”
“I don't know.”
Shayla showed him the message.
The officer's expression became serious.
“This changes things.”
“What does that mean?”
He looked at the photograph again.
“We need to find out who sent this to you.”
KAI FINALLY SPEAKS
After what felt like hours, Shayla was finally allowed to see Kai.
The moment she saw him, she ran toward him and hugged him tightly.
“Oh my God, Kai!”
“Mom…”
“Are you okay?”
“I'm okay.”
“Are you sure?”
Kai nodded.
Shayla held his face in her hands.
“Why didn't you answer your phone?”
“I didn't have it.”
“What happened?”
Kai looked down.
“I don't know how to explain it.”
Shayla immediately became nervous.
“Explain what?”
Kai looked toward the officers.
Then back at his mother.
“I wasn't alone.”
“With who?”
Kai hesitated.
“I don't know if I should tell you.”
Shayla's expression changed.
“Kai, you just scared me half to death. You have to tell me.”
He took a deep breath.
“There was someone following me.”
Shayla froze.
“What?”
“I noticed them earlier.”
“Who?”
“I couldn't see their face.”
Shayla looked at the officers.
“Why wasn't I told this?”
Officer Harris stepped forward.
“We're trying to determine who the person was.”
Kai continued.
“But that's not the worst part.”
Shayla's eyes widened.
“What could possibly be worse?”
Kai looked directly at her.
“They knew your name.”
Shayla stopped breathing for a moment.
“My name?”
Kai nodded.
“They said something about you.”
“What did they say?”
Kai lowered his voice.
“They said…”
He paused.
“They said, ‘Your mother doesn't know what's coming.’”
Shayla's face went pale.
THE MYSTERY DEEPENS
Shayla couldn't sleep that night.
She kept replaying Kai's words.
Someone had been following him.
Someone knew her name.
Someone had warned Kai that she didn't know what was coming.
But what did that mean?
At around midnight, Shayla heard a noise outside.
She walked toward the window.
Nothing.
She looked again.
Still nothing.
Then her phone buzzed.
Another unknown message.
“You were warned.”
Shayla's heart stopped.
She typed:
“Who are you?”
A response appeared almost instantly.
“Someone who knows what really happened to Kai.”
Shayla stared at the screen.
“What really happened?”
Then another message appeared.
“Ask Kai where he was before the police found him.”
Shayla slowly lowered the phone.
She didn't want to believe Kai had lied to her.
But now she had no choice.
The next morning, Shayla sat across from Kai.
“Kai, I need you to tell me the truth.”
“I already did.”
“No. You told me part of the truth.”
Kai became quiet.
“Where were you before the police found you?”
Kai looked away.
“Mom…”
“Please don't lie to me.”
He finally looked up.
“I went to meet someone.”
Shayla's heart sank.
“Who?”
Kai hesitated.
Then he whispered a name.
Shayla's eyes widened.
“You met that person?”
Kai nodded.
“Why?”
“Because they said they knew something about our family.”
Shayla stood up.
“What did they know?”
Kai reached into his pocket.
“I was given this.”
He handed Shayla a small envelope.
Shayla stared at it.
“What is this?”
“I don't know.”
She slowly opened it.
Inside was a single photograph.
Shayla looked at it.
Her jaw dropped.
The photograph showed someone from her past.
Someone she thought had completely disappeared from their lives.
Shayla's hands began shaking.
“No…”
Kai looked at her.
“You know who that is?”
Shayla couldn't speak.
Then she whispered:
“Yes.”
“Who?”
Shayla looked at Kai with tears in her eyes.
“Someone who should never have come back.”
THE CLIFFHANGER
Just when Shayla thought she had finally discovered the truth, her phone rang again.
This time, the caller ID wasn't hidden.
It was a name.
A name Shayla hadn't seen in years.
She stared at the screen.
Kai looked over her shoulder.
“Mom…”
Shayla couldn't move.
The phone continued ringing.
Finally, she answered.
“Hello?”
A familiar voice came through.
“Shayla…”
She immediately recognized it.
Her eyes filled with tears.
“Where are you?”
The voice laughed softly.
“You should be asking yourself why Kai was brought into this.”
Shayla's heart sank.
“What do you want?”
“I don't want anything from you.”
“Then why involve my son?”
There was silence.
Then the voice said:
“Because Kai knows something you don't.”
The call ended.
Shayla stood completely frozen.
Kai looked at her.
“Mom, who was that?”
Shayla slowly turned toward him.
“I don't know what's happening anymore.”
But deep down, she knew one thing.
This wasn't just about Kai.
Someone had deliberately pulled him into a much bigger secret.
And whoever was behind it had been watching Shayla for a long time.
The biggest question now wasn't what happened to Kai?
It was…
WHAT DOES KAI KNOW THAT SOMEONE IS DESPERATE TO KEEP SECRET? 😱💔
And Shayla was determined to find out—even if uncovering the truth changed her family forever.
