The restaurant was glowing with candlelight as soft music filled the room. Amber thought Dave had invited her out for a simple dinner to celebrate his new job. She had no idea that this night would become one of the biggest turning points of her life.

Dave couldn't stop checking the small velvet box hidden inside his jacket pocket. His hands were shaking, and his heart was racing. He had spent weeks planning the perfect proposal, hoping Amber would finally leave the painful memories of her past behind.

Across the room, Amber smiled as she looked at Dave.

"You've been acting nervous all evening," she laughed. "Is everything okay?"

Dave forced a smile.

"Everything is perfect... almost."

Just then, the restaurant lights dimmed. A waiter rolled out a dessert cart with sparkling candles while a violinist began playing a romantic melody.

Amber looked around in confusion.

"Dave... what's happening?"

Without saying a word, Dave slowly stood up, walked beside her chair, and dropped to one knee.

The entire restaurant fell silent.

Every customer turned to watch.

Dave opened the velvet box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring that shimmered beneath the lights.

"Amber," he said with tears in his eyes, "our journey hasn't been perfect. We've made mistakes, we've cried, and we've faced more challenges than most couples ever do. But every single day has shown me one thing..."

He paused as his voice trembled.

"I don't want to spend another day without you. Will you marry me?"

Gasps filled the restaurant.

Several guests began recording the moment on their phones.

Amber covered her mouth with both hands. Tears instantly rolled down her cheeks.

For nearly a minute, she couldn't say a single word.

Dave's smile slowly disappeared.

He began wondering if he had made a terrible mistake.

Then Amber looked at the engagement ring...

...and suddenly remembered Anthony.

Flashbacks rushed through her mind—the promises that had been broken, the arguments, the betrayal, the heartbreak, and the painful divorce papers that had changed her life forever.

She closed her eyes.

Dave's heart sank.

"Amber..." he whispered. "If your answer is no, I'll understand."

The room became completely silent.

Amber slowly reached for Dave's hand.

"I never thought I'd be asked this question again," she said through tears. "After everything I went through... I promised myself I'd never trust anyone with my heart."

Dave nodded quietly.

"But then you came into my life."

She smiled.

"You never tried to replace my past."

"You simply helped me heal."

Dave's eyes filled with tears.

Amber took a deep breath.

"I've been so afraid of getting hurt again."

She looked around at everyone watching.

"But love isn't about never getting hurt."

"It's about finding someone who's willing to stay... even when life gets difficult."

Dave could barely breathe.

Amber looked into his eyes.

Then she smiled.

"Yes."

The restaurant erupted into cheers.

Everyone clapped as Dave gently slipped the ring onto Amber's finger.

The violinist began playing louder while strangers congratulated the happy couple.

For a brief moment, it seemed like nothing could ruin their happiness.

But just as Dave stood up to hug Amber...

A familiar voice echoed from the restaurant entrance.

"So... this is how it ends?"

Everyone turned toward the door.

Anthony stood there, staring directly at Amber and the engagement ring on her finger.

The smile instantly disappeared from Amber's face.

Dave stepped in front of her protectively.

Anthony slowly walked toward them.

"I came here to apologize," he said quietly.

"I never expected to see this."

The restaurant fell silent again.

Amber looked down at her ring before meeting Anthony's eyes.

"I waited a long time for you to change," she said.

"But I couldn't keep waiting forever."

Anthony nodded sadly.

"I understand."

For a moment, everyone thought he would leave peacefully.

Instead, Anthony reached into his coat pocket.

Dave's expression immediately changed.

"What are you doing?"

Anthony slowly pulled out... a small envelope.

"I brought these," he said.

Amber opened it carefully.

Inside were old photographs of happier times, along with a handwritten letter.

"I wanted you to know," Anthony said, "that despite everything, I truly hope you're happy."

Amber wiped away fresh tears.

She folded the letter and smiled gently.

"Thank you."

Anthony nodded one last time before turning and walking away into the night.

Dave wrapped his arm around Amber.

"You okay?"

Amber looked at the engagement ring sparkling on her finger.

She smiled.

"For the first time in a very long time..."

"I finally feel ready to start a new chapter."

The guests applauded once more as Dave and Amber shared a heartfelt embrace.

But as they walked out of the restaurant together, neither of them noticed someone watching from a parked car across the street.

The mysterious figure quietly picked up a phone.

"They're engaged," the voice whispered.

"Should we tell Shayla... or keep this a secret
