HS OMG BROOKE RECIVE A BAD NEWS ABOUT ISAIAH
Brooke was having what seemed like an ordinary afternoon. She had just finished cleaning the house and was sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee, thinking about calling Isaiah later that evening. The two had recently been working through a few disagreements, but they had promised each other they would communicate better and leave the past behind.
Just as Brooke reached for her phone, it began to ring.
The caller ID showed an unknown number.
Normally, she ignored unknown calls, but something told her to answer.
"Hello?" Brooke said cautiously.
A calm but serious voice responded.
"Is this Brooke?"
"Yes... who's calling?"
"My name is Officer Daniels. I'm calling because your number was listed as one of Isaiah's emergency contacts."
Brooke's heart immediately began to race.
"What happened? Is Isaiah okay?"
There was a brief silence before the officer spoke again.
"I'm afraid Isaiah was involved in an incident earlier today."
Brooke's hands started shaking.
"What kind of incident? Please tell me he's okay!"
"He was taken to the hospital after collapsing at a community basketball event. The medical team is evaluating him now."
Brooke felt the room spinning.
She dropped her coffee mug, which shattered across the floor.
Without wasting another second, she grabbed her keys and rushed out the front door.
The drive to the hospital felt endless.
Every red light seemed to last forever.
Every passing minute filled her mind with frightening possibilities.
"What if I'm too late?" she whispered, tears streaming down her face.
When she finally arrived, she sprinted through the hospital entrance and rushed to the reception desk.
"I'm looking for Isaiah," she said, struggling to catch her breath.
The receptionist checked the system and directed Brooke to the waiting area.
As Brooke rounded the corner, she saw several familiar faces already gathered there. Larry sat with his head down, while Anthony paced back and forth, unable to stay still. D'Nisha stood quietly by the window, clearly worried.
The atmosphere was heavy with silence.
Brooke hurried over.
"Somebody please tell me what's going on."
Anthony looked at her with concern.
"They're still running tests."
Brooke's eyes filled with tears.
"Did anyone see what happened?"
Larry nodded slowly.
"He was playing basketball with some neighborhood kids. Everything seemed fine. Then he suddenly grabbed his chest, looked dizzy, and collapsed."
Brooke covered her mouth in shock.
"No..."
Minutes felt like hours as everyone waited for an update.
Finally, a doctor stepped into the waiting room.
Everyone stood immediately.
"Is Isaiah okay?" Brooke asked.
The doctor gave a reassuring smile.
"I'm happy to tell you that Isaiah is awake and stable."
Everyone let out a sigh of relief.
"But..." the doctor continued, "he was suffering from extreme exhaustion and dehydration. He had been pushing himself too hard while ignoring several warning signs. Fortunately, the people around him acted quickly, and he received medical care in time."
Brooke closed her eyes in relief.
"Can I see him?"
The doctor nodded.
A few moments later, Brooke quietly entered Isaiah's room.
Isaiah looked tired, but when he saw Brooke, he managed a weak smile.
"You came."
Brooke walked over to his bedside.
"I was terrified."
Isaiah lowered his eyes.
"I'm sorry."
Brooke shook her head.
"Why didn't you tell anyone you weren't feeling well?"
Isaiah sighed.
"I didn't want people to think I was weak. I thought I could push through it."
Brooke gently took his hand.
"Taking care of yourself isn't weakness. The people who love you would rather hear that you need help than get a phone call like the one I received today."
Isaiah nodded, realizing how much pain his silence had caused.
"I promise I'll do better."
Anthony stepped into the room with Larry and D'Nisha behind him.
Anthony smiled.
"You gave everyone quite a scare."
Larry laughed softly.
"Next time, let somebody else win the basketball game."
The room filled with relieved laughter, breaking the tension that had hung over everyone for hours.
Brooke looked around at the people who had gathered to support Isaiah.
In that moment, she realized something important.
Life could change in a matter of seconds.
Arguments could wait.
Pride could wait.
Work could wait.
The people you care about should never be taken for granted.
As everyone prepared to leave, Brooke squeezed Isaiah's hand one more time.
"I'm just thankful you're still here."
Isaiah smiled.
"So am I."
Outside the hospital, the sun began to set, reminding everyone that even after the darkest moments, hope can still shine through. The frightening phone call had brought fear and uncertainty, but it also reminded them of the importance of friendship, family, and looking after one another before it's too late
