๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’” Bethany Calls Natasha: “Prepare the Divorce Papers.”

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’” Bethany Calls Natasha: “Prepare the Divorce Papers.”

The phone sat silently on Bethany's kitchen table.

For nearly an hour, she stared at it.

Picking it up.

Putting it back down.

Walking away.

Coming back.

Her mind was filled with memories.

The good years.

The bad years.

The promises.

The arguments.

The laughter.

The tears.

Most of all, she kept thinking about Larry.

The man she once believed she would spend the rest of her life with.

For years, Bethany had fought for their marriage.

She forgave mistakes.

She overlooked problems.

She convinced herself that things would eventually get better.

Every time they argued, she told herself it was only a rough patch.

Every time they drifted apart, she believed they would find their way back to each other.

But lately, something had changed.

The arguments weren't ending anymore.

The distance wasn't shrinking.

The hurt wasn't healing.

Instead, everything seemed to be getting worse.

The house that once felt full of love now felt cold.

Conversations had become short and awkward.

Silence had become their normal language.

And for Bethany, that silence was becoming unbearable.

Earlier that morning, another argument had erupted.

What started as a simple disagreement quickly turned into a painful exchange of accusations and frustration.

Neither Larry nor Bethany seemed willing to back down.

By the time the conversation ended, both were emotionally exhausted.

Larry left the house.

Bethany stayed behind.

Alone.

For hours she sat on the couch replaying every word.

Every accusation.

Every disappointment.

Every broken promise.

Eventually tears began falling down her face.

Not angry tears.

Not dramatic tears.

The kind of tears that come when someone realizes they can no longer ignore reality.

The kind of tears that appear when hope begins slipping away.

As the afternoon passed, Bethany finally reached a decision.

One she never imagined making.

With trembling hands, she picked up her phone.

She scrolled through her contacts.

Then stopped.

Natasha.

Her attorney.

Her friend.

The person she never thought she would need to call for this reason.

Bethany stared at the name for several seconds.

Part of her wanted to hang up before dialing.

Part of her hoped Larry would walk through the front door and somehow fix everything.

But deep down, she knew that wasn't going to happen.

Slowly, she pressed the call button.

The phone rang.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Then Natasha answered.

"Hello?"

Immediately, Bethany felt emotional.

For a moment she couldn't speak.

"Bethany?"

Natasha's voice softened.

"What's wrong?"

Bethany closed her eyes.

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

The words felt impossible to say.

But eventually, she forced them out.

"Natasha..."

She paused.

"I need you to prepare the divorce papers."

Silence.

Even Natasha seemed shocked.

For years she had watched Bethany fight to save her marriage.

She knew how much Larry meant to her.

She knew how many chances Bethany had given.

She knew how difficult this decision must have been.

"Are you sure?" Natasha asked carefully.

Bethany looked around the empty room.

The photographs.

The wedding pictures.

The memories.

Everything suddenly felt heavier.

"No," Bethany admitted.

"I'm not sure about any of this."

More tears appeared.

"But I can't keep living like this."

The conversation continued for nearly an hour.

Natasha asked questions.

Bethany answered honestly.

Sometimes she cried.

Sometimes she sat quietly trying to collect her thoughts.

The reality of the situation was finally beginning to sink in.

This wasn't another argument.

This wasn't another temporary separation.

This was real.

After the call ended, Bethany placed the phone on the table and stared into space.

The house felt quieter than ever.

For the first time, she allowed herself to imagine life without Larry.

The thought broke her heart.

Because despite everything that had happened...

She still loved him.

That was what made the situation so painful.

Sometimes relationships don't end because love disappears.

Sometimes they end because the pain becomes stronger than the hope.

Hours later, Larry returned home.

The atmosphere immediately felt different.

He could sense it.

Something had changed.

Bethany sat quietly near the window.

Lost in thought.

Larry noticed her swollen eyes.

"Have you been crying?"

Bethany didn't answer right away.

The silence spoke louder than words.

Finally, she looked at him.

And in that moment, Larry knew.

Whatever had happened during the day was serious.

Very serious.

Neither spoke for several seconds.

Then Bethany quietly said:

"I called Natasha."

Larry's heart dropped.

He already knew what was coming next.

But hearing it still felt impossible.

"What for?"

Tears filled Bethany's eyes again.

"To prepare the divorce papers."

The room became silent.

A silence so heavy it felt impossible to breathe.

Larry stared at her.

Completely stunned.

He wanted to argue.

To defend himself.

To change her mind.

But no words came out.

Because deep down, he understood how they had reached this point.

The years of conflict.

The broken communication.

The emotional distance.

None of it had happened overnight.

And now they were facing the consequences.

As darkness settled outside, neither knew what the future would bring.

Would this truly be the end?

Would they find a way back to each other?

Or had they already crossed a line that couldn't be undone?

Nobody knew.

But one thing was certain.

The phone call Bethany made that afternoon would change both of their lives forever.
