Bethany is taking Brooke to the clinic to get birth control watch

Title: The Quiet Ride to the Clinic

The morning felt strangely quiet as Bethany sat in the driver’s seat of her car, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter than usual. The sky outside was gray, and a light drizzle tapped softly against the windshield.

In the passenger seat sat Brooke, staring out the window with her arms crossed.

Neither of them had spoken for several minutes.

Finally Bethany broke the silence.

“You okay?”

Brooke sighed without turning her head.

“I’m fine.”

Bethany raised an eyebrow.

“That didn’t sound very convincing.”

Brooke rolled her eyes slightly.

“Bethany, I’m about to walk into a clinic and ask for a birth control watch. Of course I’m nervous.”

Bethany gave a small sympathetic smile.

“I get it.”

Brooke finally turned to look at her.

“Do you?”

Bethany nodded.

“Yeah. Honestly… I was nervous the first time I went to a clinic too.”

Brooke studied her face.

“You never told me that.”

Bethany shrugged.

“You never asked.”

The car stopped at a red light.

Bethany glanced over at her sister.

“You don’t have to be embarrassed about this, you know.”

Brooke looked down at her hands.

“I’m not embarrassed.”

Bethany smirked slightly.

“Then why did you make me promise not to tell Mom?”

Brooke groaned.

“Because she’d turn it into a whole lecture about life choices.”

Bethany laughed.

“Okay… that’s fair.”

The light turned green and the car moved forward again.

For a moment, Brooke seemed lost in thought.

Then she asked quietly,

“Do you think I’m being irresponsible?”

Bethany frowned.

“What? No.”

Brooke shrugged.

“Some people say getting birth control means you’re planning to do something stupid.”

Bethany immediately shook her head.

“That’s not true at all.”

Brooke looked uncertain.

Bethany continued calmly.

“If anything, it means you’re being responsible.”

Brooke leaned back against the seat.

“I just hate how people judge stuff like this.”

Bethany nodded slowly.

“Yeah… people have opinions about everything.”

Brooke looked out the window again.

“I almost canceled this appointment.”

Bethany’s eyes widened slightly.

“Seriously?”

Brooke nodded.

“This morning I stared at my phone for like ten minutes.”

Bethany smiled softly.

“But you didn’t cancel.”

Brooke exhaled.

“No.”

“Why not?”

Brooke thought for a second.

“Because I didn’t want fear making decisions for me.”

Bethany smiled proudly.

“That’s actually a really good reason.”

The clinic building came into view down the street.

A simple sign stood outside reading:

Family Health Clinic

Bethany slowed the car as they pulled into the parking lot.

Brooke’s nervousness returned instantly.

Her hands started fidgeting with the strap of her purse.

Bethany noticed.

“Hey,” she said gently.

Brooke looked at her.

“You’re not alone in this.”

Brooke gave a small nervous smile.

“I know.”

Bethany parked the car.

For a moment neither of them moved.

The building stood quietly in front of them.

People walked in and out of the front doors casually.

For them, it was just another day.

But for Brooke… it felt like a big step.

Bethany turned in her seat.

“Want me to come inside with you?”

Brooke looked surprised.

“You would?”

Bethany nodded immediately.

“Of course.”

Brooke hesitated.

“Even if it’s awkward?”

Bethany laughed.

“Brooke, we’ve survived way more awkward situations than this.”

Brooke chuckled a little.

“That’s true.”

She took a deep breath.

“Okay.”

They both stepped out of the car.

The cool air hit their faces as they walked toward the entrance.

Brooke slowed down slightly.

Bethany noticed again.

“You’re doing great,” she said quietly.

Brooke looked at the door.

“Do you think they’ll judge me?”

Bethany shook her head firmly.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because this is literally their job.”

Brooke laughed nervously.

“Good point.”

They stepped inside.

The waiting room looked calm and welcoming. Soft lighting, a few chairs, informational posters on the walls, and a small reception desk.

A nurse behind the desk smiled politely.

“Good morning.”

Brooke swallowed and stepped forward.

“Hi… I have an appointment.”

The nurse typed something into the computer.

“Name?”

“Brooke.”

The nurse checked the system and nodded.

“Got it. Just have a seat. The doctor will call you shortly.”

Brooke nodded.

“Thank you.”

She and Bethany sat down side by side.

Brooke leaned closer and whispered,

“Okay… my heart is beating really fast.”

Bethany grinned.

“That’s normal.”

Brooke looked at her.

“Were you this nervous your first time?”

Bethany thought for a moment.

“Honestly?”

Brooke nodded.

“Yeah.”

Brooke smirked.

“That actually makes me feel better.”

Bethany nudged her shoulder playfully.

“See? You’re not the only one figuring things out.”

Brooke leaned back in the chair.

For the first time that morning… she looked calmer.

After a few minutes, a nurse opened the door and called out,

“Brooke?”

Brooke stood up slowly.

Bethany looked at her.

“You got this.”

Brooke took one more deep breath.

“Thanks for bringing me.”

Bethany smiled warmly.

“Anytime.”

And as Brooke followed the nurse down the hallway, she realized something important.

She wasn’t just taking control of her health.

She was also learning to make decisions for herself.

And having Bethany there beside her made that step feel a little less scary.
