Bethany gets arrested by the police at her home after Lynette files a case against her, and they escort her to the station. 🚔

Bethany had a feeling something was wrong the moment she woke up that morning. The house was too quiet, the air too heavy, like something was waiting for her. She walked into the kitchen, poured herself a cup of coffee, and tried to ignore the uneasy feeling in her chest. But deep down, she knew this had something to do with Lynette.

Ever since their huge argument a week ago, things had been getting worse. Calls from unknown numbers. Emails from lawyers. Rumors spreading among friends. Lynette had been quiet, too quiet — and Bethany knew Lynette was not the type to stay quiet unless she was planning something big.

Bethany was standing by the window when she saw a police car slowly driving down her street. Her heart skipped a beat, but she told herself it was probably for a neighbor. The car slowed down… then stopped right in front of her house.

A second police car pulled up behind it.

Bethany froze.

“No… no way,” she whispered.

There was a knock on the door. Three loud, firm knocks.

Her hands started shaking as she walked toward the door. When she opened it, two police officers were standing there — one male, one female. Both serious, both calm.

“Bethany Williams?” the male officer asked.

“Yes… that’s me,” she replied nervously.

“Ma’am, we have a warrant for your arrest.”

Her world stopped.

“A– arrest? For what? This has to be a mistake!” she said, her voice rising.

The female officer spoke gently but firmly. “A case has been filed against you by Lynette Harper. We need you to come with us.”

Bethany’s face went pale. “Lynette… She actually did this…”

She stepped back into the house, shaking her head. “This is crazy. She’s lying. She’s trying to ruin my life!”

“Ma’am, you can explain everything at the station,” the officer said. “Right now, please turn around.”

Bethany felt her eyes fill with tears as she slowly turned around. The cold metal handcuffs clicked around her wrists, and the sound echoed in her mind like a gunshot. She had never been handcuffed before. Never imagined this would happen to her.

Her neighbors had already started coming outside, pretending to check their mail, but really watching everything. Bethany felt embarrassed, angry, and scared all at the same time.

“This is not over,” she muttered under her breath. “Lynette, you’re going to regret this.”

The officers escorted her outside and toward the police car. Cameras from phones were already pointed at her. Someone whispered, “Isn’t that Bethany? What did she do?”

Bethany tried to keep her head high, but inside she was panicking.

The officer opened the back door of the police car.
“Watch your head,” he said as she got inside.

The door shut.

And just like that, her normal life felt like it was over.

As the police car started moving, Bethany stared out the window at the streets she drove every day, the stores she visited, the places she knew — but now everything felt different, like she was looking at her life from the outside.

Her mind was racing.

What exactly did Lynette tell the police?
How serious is this case?
Am I going to jail?
Who can help me?

She suddenly remembered Larry. He needed to know. And maybe a lawyer. A very good lawyer.

At the police station, the officers escorted her inside. People in the waiting area looked up as she walked past in handcuffs. She felt humiliated, but she tried not to cry.

They took her fingerprints, her photo, and then led her into a small interrogation room with a metal table and two chairs.

“Sit here,” the officer said.

Bethany sat down slowly, staring at the table.

“Someone will come talk to you soon.”

The door closed, and she was alone.

For the first time since the morning, Bethany let the tears fall. She put her face in her hands and whispered to herself:

“Lynette… what have you done…”

But deep down, Bethany knew this was just the beginning. The case, the court, the arguments, the truth, the lies — everything was about to explode.

And her life would never be the same again.
