“When Brooke tells Jayden about Sharra’s new boyfriend, Larry listens from behind.”
“When Brooke Tells Jayden About Sharra’s New Boyfriend… And Larry Hears Everything From Behind”
🔴 PART 1 — Whispers That Were Never Meant to Be Heard
The house was unusually quiet that afternoon.
Too quiet.
The kind of quiet that presses against your ears and makes every breath feel louder than it should. Sunlight filtered through the living room curtains, casting long shadows across the floor. Brooke sat on the edge of the couch, her fingers twisting together so tightly her knuckles had turned white.
Across from her, Jayden leaned back in the chair, unaware that his entire world was about to shift.
“Brooke,” Jayden said gently, noticing her nervousness, “you’ve been acting strange since this morning. What’s going on?”
Brooke swallowed hard. Her heart pounded against her chest like it was trying to escape. She had rehearsed this moment a hundred times in her head—but now that it was here, the words felt heavier than she ever imagined.
“There’s… something you need to know,” she said quietly.
Jayden straightened, instantly alert.
“About what?”
Brooke hesitated. Her eyes flicked briefly toward the hallway—then back to Jayden.
She didn’t know that someone was standing there.
Larry.
Larry had come home earlier than expected. His phone was still in his hand as he stopped near the corner of the hallway, drawn by the sound of his name earlier in Brooke’s tense voice. He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop.
But once he heard Sharra’s name, his feet froze.
He stayed perfectly still.
Unseen. Unheard.
Listening.
💔 The Truth Slips Out
“Jayden…” Brooke whispered, her voice trembling, “this is about your mom.”
Jayden frowned. “What about her?”
Brooke took a deep breath.
“She’s… she’s seeing someone.”
Jayden blinked. “Seeing someone? Since when?”
Brooke’s throat tightened.
“Recently.”
Larry’s chest tightened in the hallway.
Seeing someone?
His grip on the phone tightened so hard his fingers ached.
Jayden leaned forward now. “Brooke, you’re not making sense. Who is it?”
Brooke looked down at her hands.
“She didn’t want anyone to know yet.”
Jayden let out a nervous laugh. “Then why are you telling me?”
Brooke’s eyes filled with guilt.
“Because you deserve to hear it from someone who won’t lie to you.”
Larry’s heart began to race.
Jayden’s smile faded.
“Brooke,” he said slowly, “tell me.”
She whispered the words that would shatter everything.
“She has a new boyfriend.”
😱 Larry’s World Cracks
The hallway felt like it was closing in on Larry.
A new boyfriend.
Not a rumor.
Not a suspicion.
Not something he could deny.
His breathing became shallow as memories flooded his mind—arguments, cold silences, the way Sharra had been distant lately. All the signs he had ignored were suddenly screaming at him.
Jayden shook his head in disbelief.
“No. That’s not true.”
“I wish it wasn’t,” Brooke replied softly.
Jayden stood up abruptly. “Who is he?”
Brooke hesitated again.
That hesitation almost broke Larry.
“She hasn’t told me everything,” Brooke said carefully, “but I know it’s serious.”
“How serious?” Jayden demanded.
Brooke looked him straight in the eyes.
“Serious enough that she’s hiding it from you.”
Larry felt something snap inside his chest.
🔥 The Pain No One Sees
Jayden ran a hand through his hair, pacing the room now.
“So all this time… she was pretending everything was normal?”
Brooke nodded.
Larry leaned silently against the wall, his legs weak. He wanted to storm into the room, confront them both, scream, demand answers.
But he didn’t.
Because part of him was terrified of what else he might hear.
Jayden stopped pacing.
“Does Larry know?”
Brooke froze.
That single question echoed through the hallway like a gunshot.
Larry held his breath.
Brooke’s voice was barely audible when she answered.
“No.”
Larry closed his eyes.
So this was how he found out.
Not from Sharra.
Not from honesty.
But from whispers meant for someone else.
🕳️ A Silence Filled With Betrayal
Jayden sat down heavily.
“She’s really moving on, isn’t she?”
Brooke didn’t respond.
Because the truth was even worse than Jayden realized.
And Larry…
Larry was still standing in the shadows—heartbroken, angry, and completely unaware that this was only the beginning.
Because what Brooke hadn’t said yet…
Would destroy everything
