Shayla Loses Control Hugs Anthony for Comfort — But Amber Walks In!😱

Title: Shayla Loses Control

[INT. APARTMENT – NIGHT]

The room is dim. Rain taps against the windows. SHAYLA is pacing, her hands shaking. ANTHONY stands near the couch, watching her with concern.

Anthony:
Shayla… hey. Talk to me. You’ve been spiraling for the last ten minutes.

Shayla:
(voice cracking)
I can’t shut it off, Anthony. My head won’t stop. Everything’s collapsing at once.

Anthony:
Come here. You don’t have to do this alone.

Shayla:
No— I shouldn’t— I mean, Amber—

Anthony:
Amber isn’t here right now. You are. And you’re not okay.

Shayla’s breath becomes uneven. She presses her palms to her face.

Shayla:
I tried so hard to be strong. I really did. But tonight… I just— I lost control.

She suddenly steps forward and wraps her arms around ANTHONY, gripping his jacket like she’s afraid he’ll disappear.

Anthony:
(surprised, then softens)
Hey… it’s okay. I’ve got you.

He hesitates for half a second, then gently hugs her back.

Shayla:
(muffled against his chest)
I hate feeling like this. Weak. Needy.

Anthony:
Needing comfort doesn’t make you weak. It makes you human.

Shayla exhales shakily, her body trembling.

Shayla:
Promise me I’m not a burden.

Anthony:
You could never be a burden to me.

The front door suddenly CLICKS.

Amber (O.S.):
Anthony? I forgot my—

AMBER steps inside… and freezes.

Her eyes lock onto SHAYLA, who is still hugging ANTHONY.

Amber:
…Wow.

Shayla stiffens immediately and pulls away.

Shayla:
Amber— I— it’s not—

Amber:
Not what it looks like? Because it looks like you’re wrapped around my boyfriend.

Anthony:
Amber, wait. She was having a breakdown.

Amber:
(laughs bitterly)
Of course she was. She’s always having something, isn’t she?

Shayla:
That’s not fair.

Amber:
Isn’t it? Because every time I turn around, you’re leaning on Anthony for “support.”

Anthony:
I offered comfort. That’s all.

Amber:
And she just happened to fall into your arms?

Shayla:
I didn’t plan this! I didn’t even want you to see—

Amber:
Funny. Because it feels like you didn’t mind at all.

Shayla:
You think I enjoy breaking down in front of people?!

Amber:
I think you enjoy the attention.

Shayla’s eyes fill with tears.

Anthony:
Amber, stop. You’re crossing a line.

Amber:
Am I? Or am I finally saying what everyone else tiptoes around?

Shayla:
I came to you for help once, Amber. Once. And you told me to “deal with it.” Anthony didn’t.

Amber:
So that makes this okay?

Anthony:
This isn’t about okay or not okay. It’s about compassion.

Amber:
Then have compassion for me. How am I supposed to feel walking into this?

Silence hangs heavy.

Shayla:
(softly)
I’m sorry. Truly. I never meant to hurt you.

Amber:
Intent doesn’t erase impact.

Amber turns to Anthony.

Amber:
Do you have feelings for her?

Anthony:
No. But I care about her. And I always will.

Amber:
That’s the problem.

Amber grabs her keys.

Amber:
I need air. Because right now, I don’t know whether I’m angry… or heartbroken.

She walks out, slamming the door.

Shayla sinks onto the couch, sobbing.

Shayla:
I ruined everything.

Anthony:
No. Something that was already fragile just cracked louder.

Shayla:
She hates me now.

Anthony:
She’s hurting. Just like you.

Anthony sits across from Shayla, keeping distance this time.

Anthony:
We’re all standing in the mess of unspoken feelings. And no one knows how to clean it up.

Shayla wipes her tears, staring at the floor.

Shayla:
I never wanted to be the storm.

Anthony:
Sometimes the storm shows you what was already broken.

The rain outside grows louder as the scene fades. 🌧️

FINAL SCENE

[INT. APARTMENT – LATER THAT NIGHT]

The rain has stopped. The apartment is quiet, almost too quiet. SHAYLA stands near the window, arms wrapped around herself. ANTHONY leans against the kitchen counter, conflicted.

Shayla:
I should go.

Anthony:
You don’t have to rush—

Shayla:
I do. If I stay any longer, I’ll keep hurting people. And I’m tired of being the reason everything falls apart.

Anthony takes a step toward her, then stops.

Anthony:
You didn’t fall apart tonight. You survived.

Shayla:
At someone else’s expense.

She turns to face him, eyes red but steady.

Shayla:
Promise me something.

Anthony:
Anything.

Shayla:
Don’t chase me. Don’t try to fix this. Let me fix myself.

Anthony nods slowly, pain flickering across his face.

Anthony:
Okay. But know this… you mattered. You always will.

Shayla swallows hard.

Shayla:
That’s what scares me.

She picks up her jacket and heads for the door. Her hand pauses on the knob.

Shayla:
Tell Amber… I’m sorry I leaned on you when I should’ve stood on my own.

Anthony:
I will.

Shayla opens the door, hesitates one last time, then leaves.

[EXT. APARTMENT HALLWAY – CONTINUOUS]

Shayla walks down the hallway, wiping her tears, but her steps grow steadier with each one.

[INT. APARTMENT – SAME TIME]

Anthony sinks onto the couch, staring at the empty space where Shayla stood.

The front door opens again.

AMBER steps inside, calmer now, eyes tired.

Amber:
She gone?

Anthony:
Yeah.

Amber exhales, relief and sadness mixing.

Anthony:
It will be.

They sit in silence, hands linked, both changed.

[EXT. CITY STREET – NIGHT]

Shayla steps outside into the cool air. The clouds part just enough to reveal the moon.

She looks up, takes a deep breath.

Shayla (V.O.):
Sometimes losing control is the moment you finally choose yourself.

She walks forward, alone—but stronger.

FADE OUT.
