SHAYLA RECEIVE A BAD NEWS ABOUT KAI!😱
Scene: Shayla’s bedroom. The evening light filters through half-drawn curtains. Shayla’s phone buzzes. She reads the message—and her face turns pale.
Mia: (noticing) Shayla? What’s wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost.
Shayla: (voice trembling) It’s… it’s Kai.
Mia: Kai? What happened?
Shayla: (reading from her phone) “Kai was in an accident.” That’s all it says. I—I don’t even know what kind of accident!
Mia: Oh my God… who sent that?
Shayla: His cousin, Jalen. He just texted me out of nowhere. Said Kai’s in the hospital and they’re still running tests.
Mia: (grabs her hand) Shayla, breathe. Okay? Let’s not panic yet. Maybe it’s not as bad as it sounds.
Shayla: Not as bad as it sounds? Mia, he was driving home from work. He always takes that highway with the sharp turn. You know the one. What if— (voice cracks) What if it’s really bad?
Mia: Hey, hey, look at me. Kai’s tough, remember? He once broke his arm and still showed up to that stupid talent show with a cast. He’s going to be okay.
Shayla: (sits down, shaking) I should’ve told him not to drive when it was raining so hard. I told him to call me when he got home, but he didn’t. I should’ve known something was wrong when he didn’t text back.
Mia: Shay, stop blaming yourself. You couldn’t have known.
Shayla: (tears falling) I can’t lose him, Mia. Not like this.
Mia: You’re not going to. Come on, let’s go to the hospital. I’ll drive.
Shayla: (hesitates, whispering) What if… what if he doesn’t wake up?
Mia: (firmly) Then you’ll be there when he does. Because he will. You two have too much left to say to each other for this to be the end.
Shayla: (sniffles, nodding) You’re right… I need to see him. I need to tell him—
Mia: Tell him what?
Shayla: (takes a shaky breath) That I love him. I never actually said the words. I always waited for the “perfect moment.” What if I never get the chance again?
Mia: Then this is the moment. Come on, grab your keys.
(They hurry out of the room. Cut to the hospital waiting area, twenty minutes later.)
Shayla: (to the nurse) Hi—Kai Lewis. Please, can you tell me if he’s okay?
Nurse: He’s in stable condition now. The doctors are still monitoring him, but he’s going to be fine.
Shayla: (collapsing into tears of relief) Stable… he’s stable. Thank God.
Mia: (hugging her) See? What did I tell you? He’s too stubborn to go anywhere.
Shayla: (smiles weakly) I can’t wait to see him.
Nurse: You can go in, but only one visitor at a time.
Mia: Go. I’ll wait right here.
(Shayla walks into the dim hospital room. Kai is asleep, hooked up to monitors, a few bruises on his face.)
Shayla: (softly, through tears) Hey, Kai… it’s me. You scared me so much. Don’t ever do that again, okay? You’re going to wake up, and I’m going to tell you everything I should’ve said sooner.
(She takes his hand, and for the first time, it twitches slightly in hers.)
Shayla: (gasping) Kai?
Kai: (weakly, eyes fluttering open) Shayla…?
Shayla: (laughing and crying) Oh my God, you’re awake! Don’t you ever scare me like that again!
Kai: (smiles faintly) I’ll try not to… but seeing you cry might be worth it.
Shayla: (chokes out a laugh) You idiot… I love you.
Kai: (eyes widen, softly) Say that again.
Shayla: I love you.
Kai: (squeezes her hand) Then I guess I better get better fast.
Shayla: (teasingly) Or insanity. I haven’t decided yet.
Kai: (takes her hand gently) Whatever it is… don’t stop.
Shayla: (blushes) I wasn’t planning to.
(There’s a short silence — the kind that feels warm, not awkward. Outside, the sunset paints the sky in orange and gold.)
Kai: When I crashed… everything went dark for a second. I thought… I’d never get to see you again. But then, I swear I heard your voice.
Shayla: (softly) You did. I was right there. And I wasn’t going anywhere.
Kai: (smiling) Guess I had a reason to come back then.
Shayla: (tears in her eyes) You’re my reason too.
(They hold hands, silent but full of everything that words can’t say. The monitor beeps steadily — proof of life, love, and second chances.)
Kai: So… when I get out of here, how about that date I’ve been promising you?
Shayla: (laughs through tears) Only if you promise to stay out of hospitals for a while.
Kai: Deal.
(She leans in, and they share a gentle kiss — soft, real, full of relief and love. Outside, the night settles in peacefully, but for Shayla and Kai, it feels like a brand-new beginning.)
— THE END — 🌅❤️
